Name of Transformer |
Tim Gocher |
Context of Transformer |
Tim re-invented himself from mainstream finance to impact investing to show how capital can drive sustainable prosperity in the world’s poorest countries. |
Why are transformations important? |
The ubiquity of information and social networking today has blown the cobwebs off the old world view that people in the poorest countries are somehow different to those in the developed world. It’s no longer them and us – it’s just us! We must now find solutions that transform the world, for all of us. If we don’t, the consequences of spiralling global inequality or climate change will affect us all. |
How can you make transformations a success? |
First, you must find yourself. The drive to achieve a transformational mission can only come from deep within. When you find yourself, you’ll find your mission. |
What advice would you give to someone embarking upon a transformation? |
Be aware of the risks ahead, but not too aware. Don’t focus on the statistical probability of achieving your transformation. The odds are stacked against you by definition – no-one’s done it before. Focus on the goal and never give up. Your inner drive will carry you over the hurdles. |
What book would you recommend to help people on their transformation journey and why? |
Bleak House, Charles Dickens. It has nothing to do with transformation. But a novel of such extra-ordinary scope and detail could only be produced by a transformational character. |
